THE Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) is reminding the public it is prohibited to fly Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs or Drones) in the Chaguaramas peninsula.
In a press release on Thursday, the TTDF stated on July 24 and July 25, two UAVs were detected flying in the aerial space between Staubles Bay and Tetron Chaguaramas.
On July 26, a third UAV was observed within the aerial space of the Tetron Barracks.
The TTDF stated that in all three cases the UAVs were monitored, and “appropriate action” was taken.
Responding to these incidents the TTDF stated, “The Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force wishes to advise persons that flying UAVs in the Chaguaramas peninsula is prohibited under Regulation 19 of the Civil Aviation Regulations.”
Under the State of Emergency, Staubles Bay and Tetron, had been designated as prisons for high-risk incarcerated individuals suspected of being involved in the organisation of a series of attacks against members of law enforcement and judiciary.
Speaking in Parliament this week, Attorney General John Jeremie said two drones were spotted in the area.
