No Bail for Evangelist on Sex Charges

A 30-YEAR-OLD evangelist from Princes Town who allegedly sexually touched a seven-year-old at a church was denied bail when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Indira Misir-Gosine at the Princes Town First Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

 The accused, who was charged with two counts of sexual penetration and one count of sexual touching, is due to re-appear in court on October 19.

Police reported that the man was charged on Monday  after the Child Protection Unit (CPU) conducted investigations into two reports.

 One report which was made on August 15 alleged that during the period April 30 to June 1 the accused placed his mouth on a 15-year-old girl’s private parts and he then placed his penis on her mouth.

Another report made on Sunday alleged that on an unknown date in 2017, a seven-year-old girl was at a church located in Princes Town when the accused touched her on her private parts.

 The investigations were supervised by Supt Claire Guy-Alleyne and Ag /Insp Khan of the CPU Southern Division, and conducted by acting Cpl Sinclair and WPC Maison-Marshall.
