FROM today, no appointments will be required to get the Covid-19 vaccine at some sites as Government ramps up its drive to prevent the possible rapid spread of the Delta variant of the virus.
The Ministry of Health on Thursday stated that no appointment policy will apply to all drive-thru vaccination facilities and the mass vaccination sites in Trinidad except the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) Munroe Campus and National Racquet Sport Centre as second dose AstraZeneca vaccines are being administered at those facilities.
There are presently three drive-thru facilities in Trinidad at Ato Boldon Stadium, Wallerfield Racetrack, Heliport Chaguaramas and one at Shaw Park Complex, Tobago.
The ministry stated, “ As part of the national strategy to counteract the impending negative impact of the Delta variant of the Covid-19 virus, the decision has been taken to enhance public access to the Covid-19 vaccine. This initiative is aimed at increasing the reach, accessibility and convenience for members of the public seeking to be vaccinated against COVID-19. The population is encouraged to avail themselves of this opportunity to protect themselves and their loved ones from the COVID-19 virus.”
The mass vaccination sites are National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) , Paddock, Queen’s Park Savannah, Sangre Grande Civic Centre , NCIC Divali Nagar Site , Mayaro Sport Facility ,PowerGen Penal Power Station and the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts (SAPA).
The drive-thru sites are open from 8am to 5pm. With the exception of NAPA and the Divali Nagar site, all other mass vaccination sites are open from 8am to 3pm Mondays to Fridays. The NCIC Divali Nagar site opens from 9am and closes at 5pm.
Vaccinations are available at NAPA, Wednesday to Sundays from 9am to 6pm.
