MINISTER of Energy Stuart Young has failed to provide an answer to the House of Representatives on his travels to Venezuela between April 2021 to July 2024.
This question was filed for written answer in the Parliament by Oropoche East MP Dr Roodal Moonilal since September.
In a letter to Young on Thursday, House Speaker Bridgid Annisette-George said, “Question No 9 filed by the Member for Oropouche East on September 13, 2024 was placed on the Order Paper for written answer on November 15, 2024 and deferred for 14 days on said date. At a sitting of the House of Representatives held on December 09, 2024, the question remained outstanding.”
Annisette-George has requested from Young the reasons for the delay and when the response will be given.
The question filed by Dr Moonilal read:
With regard to the official travel of the Minister to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela during the period April 2021 to July, 2024, will the Minister provide a breakdown of the following:
a) the number of occasions on which the Minister has travelled to that country;
b) the official agenda of each meeting held;
c) a list of all the officials in attendance at each meeting; and
d) the cost of travel, accommodation and other expenses to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago
for the Minister’s attendance at each meeting?
