PUBLIC Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzales presented instruments of appointment to members of the Board of Commissioners of the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) on Monday.

The ceremony took place at the Ministry of Public Utilities head office in St Clair, Port of Spain, a release stated on Wednesday.

The newly-appointed commissioners, Frances Lum Young and Ayasha Nickie, join the board alongside reappointed members, including Romney Thomas as Chairman and Anthony Peyson as Deputy Chairman. Returning commissioners Andrew Alves, Janet Richards, and Raphael Ajodhia also resumed their roles.

Minister Gonzales extended a warm welcome to the board members, expressing gratitude for their commitment to public service.

He praised T&TEC as a model utility that the nation should take pride in and emphasised the importance of continued effective management to ensure the provision of a reliable electricity supply across Trinidad and Tobago.

In his address, Gonzales highlighted the successful collaboration between T&TEC and the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) during the critical infrastructure upgrade of the Caroni Arena Plant. He encouraged the board to build on this collaborative effort, noting that such partnerships would significantly benefit the country’s utility sector.
