GASPARILLO- Four people including a national footballer have died in a vehicular accident along the Solomon Hochoy Highway early on Thursday morning.
Reports stated that the driver of a Nissan Quashqai lost control of his vehicle during rainy conditions on the south bound lane near to the Gasparillo flyover.
Police said the vehicle hit a lamp post and a transformer fell on the van and electrocuted the four occupants.
Shahdon Winchester, 27, a forward with the Trinidad and Tobago national football team was reported to be one of the victims.
Police said three men and one woman perished.
Investigators said the vehicle was owned by Winchester, who attended Naparima College and also played for W Connection.
The accident caused a massive traffic jam along both lanes of the highway.
