THE main suspect in the murder of Chairman Maritime General and Fidelity Insurance John Smith escaped from the St Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital, St Ann’s.
The patient, 41, was found shortly after at the Botanical Gardens in Port-of-Spain.
Police reports are that just after 4.30 am on Monday, the female patient was reported missing.
She was sent to the facility over the weekend by Homicide Bureau Officers for analysis, pending investigations into the death of Smith which occurred on Friday.
The nurse reported to the police officer on duty at St Ann’s Hospital and a search was carried out for the missing suspect. Based on information received, officers of the Port-of-Spain Task Force located her in the Botanical Gardens about one mile away.
She was taken back to the St Ann’s Hospital.
