A 15-year-old student from Moruga Secondary School has been charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
The incident occurred when a police corporal, serving as a safety officer at the school, discovered 2.3 grammes of marijuana in the student’s back pocket during a search around 10 am on Monday.
The school’s principal and the boy’s grandmother were informed of the situation.
The student received a seven-day suspension from the school.
The teenager was subsequently taken to the Moruga Police Station, where he was formally charged.
He is scheduled to appear at the Children’s Court in Fyzabad on Wednesday.
