A Moruga fisherman is warded at hospital after being shot in the chest while at sea on Wednesday morning.
Police said 35-year-old Christopher Granger was one of three fishermen who left La Lune Beach on Tuesday to go fishing.
Reports indicate that while about two miles off the Icacos Coast, they were approached by a white pirogue coming from the Venezuelan coast.
The fishermen cut their lines and headed for shore but the boat, with four Spanish speaking men on board, approached.
The fishermen did not stop and continued for land when they heard a loud gunshots.
Granger was shot and police were called when they reached ashore. He was taken to hospital and is warded in a serious condition.
Sgt Ramsaran is continuing inquiries.
