Member of Parliament for D’Abadie/O’Meara Lisa Morris-Julian lost her life in a house fire along with her son and another relative.
The fire occurred before dawn on Monday at their residence on Farfan Drive, Arima.
Reports indicate that the three were trapped in a section of the house from which they could not escape.
Morris-Julian’s husband and other children were able to safely evacuate the premises.
Lisa Morris-Julian held the position of Minister in the Ministry of Education and served as the MP for D’Abadie/O’Meara.
Her career also included roles as an English teacher at Barataria South Secondary School and as a former Mayor of the Arima Borough Corporation.
She was recently given the nod to contest the D’Abadie/O’Meara seat for the People’s National Movement (PNM) in the general elections due next year.
