A TROPICAL storm which could turn into a hurricane passing over the Caribbean is being monitored.
However, Trinidad and Tobago is not threatened by the development, says the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Services (TTMS).
In an update at 8.40 am on Tuesday, TTMS stated that tropical storm Bret was located about 1815 kilometres east of the Southern Windward Islands at 5 am.
“The system is moving west near 28km/h and this general motion is expected over the next several days,” TTMS stated.
Maximum sustained winds were also at 65km/h. While strengthening is forecast, the system should be approaching the Lesser Antilles by later this week.
TTMS stated, “The TTMS wishes to underscore that this system poses no immediate threat to Trinidad, Tobago, Grenada and its dependencies.”
