AN investigation has been launched into another school fight and again involving schoolgirls.
The Ministry of Education stated on Tuesday evening via media release that it was aware of a fight that occurred earlier at Holy Faith Convent, Couva in which a pupil was dragged out and beaten by pupils from another school.

The ministry stated Minister of Education Dr Michael Dowlath has called for a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
The ministry stated, “The ministry is currently working in close collaboration with the school’s administration and all relevant authorities to ensure a thorough review is conducted and that appropriate measures are taken.”
The ministry also condemned all forms of violence within the school environment.

“The honourable minister has reiterated that such behaviour will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Schools must remain safe, respectful spaces for all students and any breach of this standard will be addressed with the utmost seriousness,” the ministry stated.
According to reports, the attack was on a teenage pupil of Holy Faith Convent Couva by five female pupils from the Couva West Secondary School who went to a nearby Starbucks in Couva, where they changed out of their school uniforms remaining in their undergarments.

They walked barefoot to the school, where they ambushed and dragged a female student from the school’s gate onto the roadway to beat her.
The fight was eventually stopped when an adult and two of the victim’s schoolmates intervened.
Last week, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar announced that all perpetrators in school violence would be expelled after speaking about another incident in which a female pupil of another school was beaten by three other female schoolmates in the school’s bathroom.
