Miami Consul Pays Courtesy Call to Cox

MINISTER of Social Development and Family Services Donna Cox has receives a courtesy call from Consul of Public Affairs and Culture of the Miami Consulate Abbegail Nandalal on Friday.

A release from the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services stated the meeting took place on Friday at the ministry’s Head office on St Vincent Street, Port of Spain.

The meeting included cordial discussions on opportunities for exchange programmes and initiatives as well as greater collaboration to address social challenges faced by the vulnerable in Trinidad and Tobago.

Discussions focused on the social displacement and the needs of the vulnerable and indigent in Trinidad and Tobago.

The meeting also formed part of Cox’s ongoing strategy to form alliances and collaborate with various missions and embassies towards a more responsive and multifaceted social services delivery.

In addition, she shared some of her past experiences and ideas while serving in New York.

Cox said, “This meeting was quite timely because of the Government’s focus on digitalisation of Government Services.

“The ministry is quite pleased to facilitate this exchange of ideas and expertise, which we believe will add value to our efforts in creating a more sustainable social safety net system.”

Nandalal in turn, also exchanged ideas and was very happy to receive some pertinent advice from the minister.

The meeting concluded with a brief presentation given to Nandalal from Cox.
