THERE is a false version of the weight loss tablet of Wegovy.

A release from the Ministry of Health on Tuesday stated that Ministry of Health (MoH), via its Chemistry, Food and Drugs Division (CFDD) advises of an alert concerning the possible circulation of a falsified version of Wegovy® once-daily tablets for weight loss.

It stated, “This product, containing the active ingredient Semaglutide, has been authorised for use in the United States only since December 2025, but is not authorised for use in other jurisdictions. However, there is concern that the product may soon appear in other markets, raising the risk of illegal importation and falsified versions.”

The ministry stated, “While the recalled product is not registered for use in Trinidad and Tobago, out of an abundance of caution, the Ministry advises persons who may be in possession of the identified drug to discontinue use immediately.
