Officers attached to the Eastern Division, arrested a suspect and seized a quantity of marijuana and cocaine during crime eradication exercises on Wednesday.
Between the hours of 10.30 am and 1.30 pm officers of the Mayaro Criminal Investigations Department conducted exercises in the Eccles Road West, Ortoire Fishing Port and Alexis Street districts in Mayaro.
A 23-year-old man of Lagoon Village, Mayaro was arrested for possession of 18 grammes of cocaine and 65 grammes of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
In a separate exercise conducted in Southern Division, PC Jugmohan while on mobile patrol along Dumfries Road Hermitage Village, San Fernando, stopped and searched a 28-year-old man of Tortuga who was standing along the said roadway.
During the search four rounds of 9 mm ammunitions were found and seized in his front right side pants pocket. He was arrested and charged for the offence of Possession of Ammunition and is to appear at the San Fernando Master’s Court today to answer to the charges.
