ST CLAIR – FORMER public administration minister Marlene McDonald has been rushed to a private health institution after complaining of feeling unwell while in police custody.

She and four others were expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate at 9 a.m. on Monday, but McDonald was taken to the St Clair Medical Centre after she said she was feeling nauseous and was having a bout of dizziness, police sources said.

Her court appearance along with her common law husband Michael Carew, Victor Eachrane, Wayne Anthony and Edgar Zephrine has been pushed back to Monday afternoon.

McDonald and her husband have been in custody since Thursday as police continued their corruption probe.

They are being charged with several offences of conspiracy to defraud the Government and money laundering offences, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service said in an official release.

McDonald’s appointment has been revoked by Prime Minister Keith Rowley and he has advised the President to appoint attorney and PNM Senator Garvin Simonette as the new Minister of Public Administration.
