THE recount for the constituency of San Fernando East is completed.
The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) on Monday released the new figures for the constituency.
The official final vote count for the San Fernando East constituency is as follows:
PNM – 7017
UNC – 6344
PF – 502
Rejected Ballots – 64
The preliminary results for San Fernando East were PNM – 7,026, UNC – 6,357 and Patriotic Front – 490 and 36 rejected ballots.
This means that San Fernando East candidate Brian Manning won by just 673 votes over UNC’s John Michael Alibocus.
The EBC stated, “This concludes the three general recounts requested by the United National Congress (UNC). All recounts were carried out according to Election Rule 101 and included the verification of poll cards, in line with established electoral procedures. The Commission remains committed to transparency, accuracy, integrity, and ensuring public trust in the electoral process.”
Following the general election on April 28, the UNC requested recounts for San Fernando East as well as Malabar/Mausica and Arouca/Lopinot.
The recount from the preliminary results did not have a change in winner and minor adjustments were made to the original figures.
