Mangaroo New President of NCIC

SURUJDEO Mangaroo is now the president of the National Council for Indian Culture (NCIC).
Mangaroo replaces former president Deoroop Teemal who died on August 3.
Mangaroo was the NCIC’s first vice president.
The Ministry of Culture and Community Development congratulated Mangaroo on his new appointment.
In a media release, the ministry stated, “For nearly three decades, Mr Mangaroo has served the NCIC and has been a stalwart in the promotion and advocacy for the recognition of East Indian culture in all spheres within Trinidad and Tobago  as well as on the international stage.
“Over the years, his leadership has extended across numerous organisations dedicating himself tirelessly to the advancement of the diaspora and its importance in the national cultural landscape.”
Mangaroo, a recipient of the Hummingbird Medal Gold, was appointed in his new position over the weekend having served over 30 years in the organisation
NCIC via media statement on Sunday said Mangaroo has pledged to continue serving the NCIC with his experience and deep commitment, building on the foundation that Teemal built.
NCIC stated, “Mr Mangaroo has pledged to build upon the strong foundation laid by his predecessor Senator Deoroop Teemal, focusing on advancing youth development and enhancing cultural awareness. His vision emphasis empowering the younger generation to embrace and celebrate their heritage, ensuring the vibrant traditions of Indian culture continue to thrive.”
Mangaroo is also the Charter President of the Rotary Club at Penal, Chairman-Cultural Affairs of the Hindu Foundation of Trinidad and Tobago Inc, Vice President of the Global Indian Organization (GIO) Caribbean Region.
And he was also the chairman of the National Commission for Self Help ltd from 2010 to 2015.
