A man who was initially thought to be missing after his car was washed away in floodwaters on Friday was said to be at home in Caroni.
The vehicle is currently submerged under water in the Caroni River in the vicinity of Trantrill Road, St Augustine South.
The Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government issued an update on Friday evening stating that three vehicles were trapped in flood waters and two persons rescued by the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Services (TTFS) in collaboration with voluntary services of Kalpoos Tours based at the Caroni Bird Sanctuary.
The report was made at around 10.30 am.
The ministry stated, “Efforts continue to locate the owner of a third vehicle which was found unattended in the flooded area. The TTPS has issued a vehicle identification notice, circulating the vehicle’s number plate in an attempt to trace the owner.
“Authorities are exploring the possibility that the driver or passengers may have exited the vehicle and been picked up by another party. A full investigation is underway to locate any persons associated with the vehicle.”
Trantrill Road remains closed to the public and persons are again reminding to be cautious and not traverse floodwaters under any circumstances.
