ON a charge of sexually penetrating a male victim, a 20-year-old man was granted bail in the sum of $100,000 with a surety.
He was also ordered to stay 300 metres from the victim after appearing before Chaguanas Magistrate Indira Misir-Gosine charged with one count of sexual penetration and one count of false imprisonment.
Police reported on Wednesday, that on July 1, 2019, the man saw his neighbour standing in his yard, offered him $100 and asked him to perform a sex act.
The neighbour refused and started to walk away but the man held onto the victim’s hand and told him he was not allowed to leave.
The victim was held against his will in a locked room, where it was alleged that the sex act occurred. On July 3, 2019, the victim made a report at the Barrackpore Police Station. Officers of the Southern Division Child Protection Unit launched an investigation. After a period of investigations conducted by acting Cpl Diamond, the man was charged. He is expected to reappear at the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court on March 29, 2021.
