FOR cutting cables belonging to the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT), four men were detained by residents of Mamoral Village early Saturday morning.
Police reports indicate that around 2.30 am on August 6, two officers attached to the Central Division responded to a report of larceny cables at Mamoral No. 2.
On arrival, officers met with two Estate Constables of the TSTT Task Force who had four male suspects in their custody, and a length of copper cable.
One estate constable told officers that at around 1.45 am, they received information and proceeded to Mamoral No. 2 where they saw a damaged Nissan Tiida vehicle in the centre of the roadway.
They also observed a number of villagers surrounding four men who were lying on the ground at the side of the roadway.
Reports stated that the villagers reported that the four men were caught stealing cables and they performed a citizens’ arrest, and they also pointed out a length of cable found in the possession of the men.
The suspects were taken to the Gran Couva Police Station for further enquiries and then taken to the San Fernando General Hospital for treatment.
Officers recovered a length of 50 pair copper Cable, 31 metres.
Investigations are continuing.
