Low-Level Trough puts T&T Under Adverse Weather

TRINIDAD and Tobago is now under an Adverse Weather Alert- Yellow Level 1 for a low-level trough from 9 am to 6.30 pm on Saturday.

However, the warning was not associated with Tropical Storm Beryl.

TTMS warned there is a high (80%) chance of thunderstorm activity today over Trinidad and Tobago due to the passage of a low level trough encountering favourable conditions for thunderstorm development. 

It stated, “Likely impacts include gusty winds in excess of 55 km/h which can lead to fallen trees, displace unsecured items and agitate seas.

“Street/flash flooding and localised ponding can also occur as a result of this activity.”

Members of the public are asked to secure loose outdoor items and livestock, avoid wading or driving through flood water and continue to monitor official sources for information on weather and sea conditions via www.metoffice.gov.tt and odpm.gov.tt.
