Caption: Items seized by police
SEVERAL items belonging to law enforcement were seized by police during an operation in San Fernando.
A multi-agency operation was carried out in the Southern Division between 7 pm on Wednesday and 12.05 am on Thursday.
The operation was executed by officers of the National Special Operations Unit (NSOU), under the command of Assistant Commissioner of Police Richard Smith and the supervision of Assistant Superintendent St Clair.
Tactical support was provided by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) K-9 Unit and the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force Special Operations Forces, led by Sergeant Moses, the TTPS stated in a media release on Thursday.
Based on intelligence received, officers executed a search warrant at an apartment in the Corinth Hills Housing Development Corporation (HDC) development, where the items were discovered and seized.
They include:
- One police-issued bulletproof vest
- Three pairs of chevrons
- One beret
- One regimental number tag
- One metal TT Municipal Police name tag
- Two “SCPS” shoulder titles
- Four silver-coloured police buttons
- Three San Fernando City Police stars
- One black lanyard
- One black baton holder
- One leather baton holder marked “SCPS”
- One leather firearm holster
- Two 50th Independence Anniversary medals
- One Long Service Award badge
The occupant, a 43-year-old man, was detained and the items seized.
In a separate search of an adjacent, unsecured, and unoccupied apartment, officers discovered one grey plastic bag containing several smaller bags of cannabis, with a total weight of approximately 280 grams and one clear plastic packet containing seven rounds of .40mm ammunition.
