ALL roads lead to Fyzabad for a grand celebration of the labour movement in Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday.
This year’s Labour Day celebration is expected to be one of the largest and longest with activities beginning from early morning and going down straight until evening.
The theme is “RESET – It’s Workers’ Time Now!”
The activities will begin with a Wreath Laying Ceremony at Apex Cemetery, Fyzabad, at 8 am on the grave for Uriah Buzz Butler, Wreath Laying at the La Brea Charles Monument and Wreath Laying at Butler Statue at Charlie King Junction.
At 8.30 am, union members and supporters will assemble at Avocat Junction and speeches will begin one hour later by various union leaders.
At 10.45 am, the customary march from Avocat Junction to Charlie King Junction will begin at Butler Hall of the Revolution where the main rally will take place.
President of the Joint Trade Union Movement (JTUM) Ancel Roget is expected to deliver the feature address.
And a cultural show hosted by Damion Melville is expected to follow with a line up of local music stars including Iwer George, Kurt Allen, Karen Ashe and Adesh Samaroo.
Some Members of Parliament are also expected to attend.
