TRINIDAD and Tobago’s Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has extended her “sincerest congratulations” to Donald Trump on his election as the 47th President of the United States.
In a statement on Wednesday, she praised the American people for choosing to “return to the path he began eight years ago,” highlighting the progress and stability achieved during his first term from 2016 to 2020.
Persad-Bissessar commended Trump’s “inspiring resilience” and commitment to the American people.
She said, “The American people have decisively chosen to return to the path he began eight years ago, affirming the progress, stability, and policies that he championed in his first Presidential term (2016-2020).
“President Trump’s truly remarkable victory speaks to his inspiring resilience and commitment to the American people. He has survived assassination attempts, political persecution through the weaponisation of the justice and financial systems and years of personal attacks, but he never wavered in his love for the United States of America.”
The opposition leader noted the significance of leaders returning to office with “renewed commitment” and “fresh energy.”
Persad-Bissessar said, “What truly stands out about President Trump’s victory is the coalition of interests that came together, united by his vision to restore conservative American values and ideals which have been under attack by promoters of extreme far-left ideology.”
The Opposition Leader expressed her best wishes on behalf of the United National Congress, hoping for wisdom and strength for Trump and his government as they address “immense domestic and global challenges.”
“May God always bless them, and the American people, with enduring success, peace, and prosperity,” she concluded.
