IT took the fastest 50 in Caribbean Premier League (CPL) history by JP Duminy for the Barbados Tridents to end their eight-match losing streak at home.
The South African blasted 65 just from 20 balls and brought up his fifty in 15 balls versus the Trinbago Knight Riders at Kensington Oval in Barbados.
Duminy just edged out Hayden Walsh Jr for the Player of the Match award. The leg spin of Walsh Jr was too much for the Knight Riders. He ended with figures of five for 19 off his four overs – the third best CPL bowling overall and the best for the 2019 season thus far.
Jason Holder won the toss and elected to bat with a good start from openers Johnson Charles (58) and Jonathan Carter (51) who put on 110 for the first wicket.
Duminy came in at No 3 in the 14th over with the fall of the first wicket and when he departed caught by Sunil Narine off the bowling of Kieron Pollard, the Tridents were on 184 for 4. They made 192/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
The Knight Riders started well with Narine and Simmons putting on 30 before the former was bowled by Holder in the third over.
Colin Munro in at No 3 hit two sixes and a four before he was brilliantly caught by Duminy in the deep running on the boundary and almost colliding with Holder.
Darren Bravo top scored with 28 for the Knight Riders who were all out for 129 in 17.4 overs giving Tridents victory by 63 runs.
The Knight Riders remain in second place on the standings having gone three matches without a win after winning their first four games.
