Asked by AZPNews.com about her message for the people of T&T in the wake of re-election, Abdul-Mohan called for the obeying of the public health regulations in the wake of an upsurge in Covid-19 cases.

She said, “We must continue to be our brothers and sisters keepers by following all the the health protocols. We really need to preserve life.

“We need to be more compassionate and caring because I think we have let our guard down and we may be a little selfish because people feel they are in cages in their homes but they must not be reckless and careless.”

Abdul-Mohan said while the Government did not pressure places of worship to close their doors, some regions in her church have taken extra precautions with the elderly.

She noted that in the case of the Couva/Balmain pastoral region, all churches have been closed after someone tested positive for Covid-19.

Abdul-Mohan noted that one church each in the pastoral regions of Chaguanas and Tableland also closed doors in light of the pandemic.

General Secretary of PCTT Terrence Warde said that the church was still experiencing a period of uncertainty with the pandemic and that unprecedented times called for leadership that could navigate the unpredictable.

He said, “Reverend Abdul-Mohan’s style of management of the church has always been one of consensus, humility and servant-leadership, involving the clergy, the synod and the members of the church in participatory and meaningful decision-making.”
