John-Williams Dies

FORMER Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) president David John-Williams has died.

He has been ailing for some time and passed away on Thursday morning.

The TTFA and the Sport Company of T&T (SporTT)  extended condolences to the family and friends via their social media platforms.

 In a media release, TFFA posted, “The TTFA will like to convey its deepest and heartfelt sympathy to the immediate family and friends of its former president David John-Williams following his passing earlier today.

David served as president of the Association from November 2015 to November 2019. He was also the founder and President of the W Connection Football club with a genuine passion and dedication to the growth of the game, TTFA said.

TTFA stated, “Affectionately known as “Presi”, his contributions and commitment over the last decades will be remembered. The thoughts and prayers of the TTFA and the rest of the football community are with the family and friends of David. May his Soul Rest in Peace.”

TTFA Normalisation Committee chairman Robert Hadad also said, “David’s passion for and knowledge of the game will be well remembered. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.”

SporTT wrote on Facebook, “The Board and Management of the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SporTT) would like to express deepest condolences to the family and close friends of the former TTFA President, David John Williams, after his passing earlier this morning. Let us always remember his legacy in the sport of football and his contributions to the sporting industry of Trinidad and Tobago.”

Members of the Trinidad and Tobago U-20 Team also shared in a moment of silence in memory of former John-Williams before breakfast on Thursday morning at the CopanTL Hotel in San Pedro Sula, TTFA posted.
