It’s now the Office of the Attorney General

THE Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs will now be officially known as the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Legal Affairs.

In a release issued, by the ministry under the new name,  it was stated, “In exercise of the Power vested in the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Her Excellency, Paula-Mae Weekes, by section79 (1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, The Honourable Dr Keith Christopher Rowley, with effect from 14th September, 2020, The Honourable Faris Al-Rawi, was assigned the responsibility for the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Legal Affairs, including administration of the Ministry’s assigned Departments of Government (Gazette No. 158 of 2020).”

“As such, with immediate effect, the Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs shall be referred to as: Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Legal Affairs under the patronage of the Honourable Faris Al-Rawi, Attorney General of Trinidad and Tobago and Senator The Honourable Renuka Sagramsingh-Sooklal, Minister in the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Legal Affairs.”

The release continued, “Please note that all services provided by the former entities will now operate under this new name. Persons are asked to update their records accordingly and to address all future business correspondence to the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Legal Affairs.”
