RESIDENTS in Tobago who want to get rid of their bulky waste and old appliances can do so starting from Monday.
The Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection is embarking on an island-wide clean-up campaign.
The Division stated on a flyer being shared, “All white waste will be collected, including stoves, fridges, galvanise and other bulky materials.”
It added, “No construction materials or tree cuttings will be collected.”
All items should be placed at the curbside location one day before the collection date of the area.
AZPNews.com was told that the items collected will be carried to the Studley Park Landfill at Easterfield Field Road.
In February, the Division’s secretary Dr Faith B. Yisrael visited the landfill which she said was possibly the only engineered landfill in Trinidad and Tobago.
She said, “We are actually doing what it takes to cover the garbage continually and we have a piping system that allows for proper ventilation of gases.”
B. Yisrael said then that it will take time to do what was necessary to manage how the Division deals with waste in Tobago.
There will be three collection days for the curbside clean-up drive:
East Tobago – March 21
Charlotteville to Calder Hall
North Side Tobago – March 23
L’anse Fourmi to Scarborough inclusive of:
Mt.Thomas, Les Coteaux, Arnos Vale, Mt Grace,
