LAUDERHILL – India have beaten West Indies in the first T20 match in Laudershill, Florida.
West Indies batted first and made 95 for 9 with Kieron Pollard top socring with 49 off the same number of balls. Only Nicholas Pooran with 20 off 16 balls was the only other batsman to make it into double figures.
Both openers John Campbell and Evin Lewis did not trouble the scorers.
Debutant Navdeep Saini was the main destroyer with three wickets for 17 runs off his four overs.
In India’s turn at the crease Rohit Sharma at the top of the order scored 24 while captain Virat Kholi and Manish Pandey both pitched in with 19 runs each.
Sheldon Cottrell, Sunil Narine and Kemmo Paul took two wickets each with Narine being the most economical with 3.50 per over.
The second of the three T20s take place at the same venue Sunday with the third one on Tuesday in Guyana.
