RUDRANATH Indarsingh, Selwyn Samaroo and Brambhanan Dubay have been appointed members of the Industrial Court of Trinidad and Tobago.
On Wednesday, the Industrial Court announced its appointments via a press release.
The Court stated that the three were presented with their instruments of appointment on Tuesday by acting President of the Industrial Court Herbert Soverall during a brief ceremony.
Also, in attendance were Acting Vice President Kathleen George-Marcelle and acting Registrar Kathy Ann Alexander-Fraser.
The Court stated Indarsingh and Samaroo would preside over disputes under the Essential Services Division, while Dubay would preside over disputes under the General Services Division.
About the appointees
Rudranauth Indarsingh was awarded the Chaconia Medal (Silver) in 2005 for his service in the labour movement and had been recognised for championing workers’ rights and shaping labour policy. Indarsingh served as President of the All-Trinidad Sugar and General Trade Workers’ Trade Union (ATSGT). He had previously served as a Member of Parliament for Couva South and held key roles in various ministries including Labour, Small and Micro Enterprise Development and Works and Transport.
Dr Selwyn Samaroo previously served as a judge of the Industrial Court from 2012-2018. Prior to his current appointment he held the position of Manager Human Resources Employee Relations at the South West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA). In academia, Dr. Samaroo served as an Adjunct Professor of Political Science at the University of Tennessee, USA and has contributed to academic publishing as an Editorial Reviewer for W.W. Norton and Company, USA.
Brambhanan Dubay served as a Magistrate and Senior Magistrate, presiding over criminal trials, family matters, coroner and petty civil court proceedings from 2007 to 2024. Prior to this, he held key legal roles as a Senior State Counsel at the Service Commissions Department and State Counsel at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
