THE 33,600 Covid-19 vaccines from the COVAX facility is paid for by a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh said the vaccines cost US$148,084 and was paid from a loan agreement programme with IDB.
He was speaking at a virtual press conference of the Ministry of Health on Thursday.
The minister said the vaccines were US$4.41 per dose which included insurance, shipping and other costs.
Deyalsingh said, “This was done through a loan agreement programme instituted in 2016” repurposed as a quick way to get the money to COVAX.
