12 Months’ Jail Each for 3 Men for Stealing Cables

Three men were each sentenced to 12 months’ hard labour, after they appeared before a Couva Magistrate on Tuesday charged with larceny of cables belonging to the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT).

The sentences dealt with two separate incidents.

Jason Andrews, 33, a labourer of California, appeared before Magistrate Alexander Prince, in the Couva Second Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday.

He pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 12 months’ hard labour. He was caught cutting cables at Dow Village in California around 6 am on July 24, 2022.

In the second matter, Anderson Bedeau, 33, a welder and Keshawn Simmons, 19, both of Couva also pleaded guilty to stealing TSTT cables and were each sentenced to 12 months’ hard labour.

They were caught around 1.45 am on July 25 by Estate Constables of Amalgamated Security Services who responded to a report of larceny TSTT cables in the Couva district. Upon arrival they arrested two
suspects.
