In a media release on Monday, the ministry stated that Hosein held on Sunday, discussions with key officials and staff of the ministry including the Permanent Secretary and the Director of Engineering Division, on bringing immediate relief to the farming communities, within the shortest period of time.

Attempts were made earlier to visit the Plum Mitan Farming Project – one of the areas heavily impacted by severe flooding, however, the bridges and roads leading into the project were inundated and totally impassable due to the Jagroma River overflowing its banks.

The Minister has placed his technical team, along with contractors with the requisite equipment on standby, to immediately enter the major affected areas to quickly aid in bringing relief to the major affected areas so that food production can resume in  these key “food basket” areas, the release stated.
