FORMER journalist Colleen Holder says there is a plot to shoot her after she raised concerns about crime in Oropune Gardens, Piarco, where she lives.

Holder who is currently media relations officer at the Office of the Parliament said National Security Minister Stuart Young and Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith have been informed of the situation she said.

She said she was told that a person put a “green light” to “shoot and burn.”

She told local media yesterday: “I was given reliable information this morning that a hit was placed on my life today because I spoke out on issues in Oropune Gardens. I will be making a report to the Arouca Police Station as well as I will send a formal letter to the CoP and the Minister of National Security and the media. Unfortunately I have become a target because I am speaking out on behalf of residents. I now see why people stay silent. Sigh.”

Last Saturday, Holder held a press conference at the Oropune Police Youth Club. This was after a spate of crime in the area. She said residents were concerned about three illegal businesses within the remit of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC).

On Wednesday, the HDC demolished and removed three businesses which belonged to Anthony “One Foot” Knights, a resident of Oropune Gardens.

Holder then called on the HDC to allocate an area for business in Orpoune Gardens.
