HIGH wind yellow level alert is in effect.
It took effect on Monday at 6 pm and is expected to continue until Wednesday at 11 am.
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) issued the alert on Monday just after 3 pm and after the yellow level adverse weather alert was discontinued.
TTMS states, “Strong low-level winds will produce breezy to windy conditions over the next 24 to 48 hours, with a high (70 per cent) potential for gusts exceeding 55 km/h, especially in the vicinity of showers. These gusts may be brief but strong enough to displace unsecured roofs, loose outdoor items and can even topple trees or weak structures.
Sea conditions are also expected to become additionally agitated and may disrupt marine activities.”
The TTMS is advising the population to secure loose outdoor objects and livestock.
Marine interests should exercise caution during this period and lifeguard instructions should be followed.
Persons are also advised to monitor official news sources and weather updates from www.metoffice.gov.tt.
