HELEN Humphrey, a Carnival Queen of the 1980s, an advocate for the awareness of Down Syndrome and wife of former government minister John Humphrey has died.
She passed away at her home in Glencoe just before midnight on Wednesday at age 84.
John Humphrey shared 66 years of his life with her.
They have two surviving children daughter Joanna Aldred and son Johnny.
Speaking with AZP News, her daughter described her as the best mother anybody could ever ask for.
Aldred said her mother died the way she wanted to, without pain and suffering after having a heart attack.
Her grandmother also died that way and Helen Humphrey had the same wish.
Aldred said, “Mom was influential in every way. She will always be here with us. I feel her all the time. She will continue to guide us in every way.”
