SEVERAL water treatment facilities in the northeastern part of Trinidad are out of service due to heavy rainfall.
The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) in media release on Thursday stated that the heavy overnight rainfall led to riverine flooding, high turbidity, clogged intake screens and siltation at several plants, forcing the surface water treatment facilities in the Northeast Region out of operation.
The affected facilities and their corresponding impacted areas include:

Matura: Matura, Salybia, Pierre Street, Gray Trace, Orosco Bay Road, Mendoza Street.

Aripo: Cocorite Road – Arima (between Henry Street and Malabar Branch Road), Malabar Road, Malabar Phase 2, Wallerfield, Santa Rosa, Pinto Road, Train Line and Smith Lands.

Tompire: Toco, Balandra.

Guanapo: Pinto Road, Mt. Pleasant, Alenore Gardens, Calvary, Sanchez Street, Bye Pass Road, Maturita, La Retreat Road, Blanchisseuse Road.

Quare: Orchid Ext., Valencia Old Road, Quare Road/Cumaca Road, Plantation Road/San Pablo, San Pedro/Flamboyant Crescent and environs.

North Oropouche: Reduced production – Maloney, Carapo, Malabar, Five Rivers, Tumpuna, Sangre Grande, Manzanilla and surrounding areas.
WASA stated that all available resources are being focused on restoring full service at the earliest possible time.
The Authority apologized for the inconvenience and thank customers for their patience and understanding.
