THE lyrics for a song “Hard Mass” encouraging people to go to church for the Lenten season, did not come from the Roman Catholic Church.

The Archdiocese of Port of Spain in a press release on Sunday stated, “It has come to the attention of the Archdiocese of Port of Spain that a document entitled, Lyrics for Hard Mass, For Lenten Mass 2023, is circulating on social media platforms under the official Archdiocese logo.

“This document did not originate from the Archdiocese of Port of Spain. Authentic Archdiocese statements are issued only from the Church’s official media channel, CatholicTT.”

The release also stated that it is the Church’s prayer that Catholics will be faithful and be guided by Jesus Christ’s journey to Calvary, leading to his resurrection at Easter and His message of salvation for all of mankind.

“Hard Mass” appears to be a spin of  “Hard Fete”, the Road March-winning hit song for Carnival 2023 by Bunji Garlin.
