HAIRDRESSERS and barbers will once again be allowed to operate from August 23.
The announcement came from Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley on Saturday during a media conference.
The retail sector reopens on Monday.
Workers attached to the Community- Based Environmental Protection and Enhancement Programme CEPEP and the Unemployment Relief Programme (URP) will also resume work on Monday, the Prime Minister said as the government eases some restrictions.
He said, “Our cleaning and cleansing staff, URP and CEPEP, our roads and highways and byways are now becoming overgrown and overrun. Because they are working outdoors, it is the view that they could come out now and join the workforce and do the work that they do, maintaining strict protocols at all times.”
Regarding personal care services, Dr Rowley said, “The following Monday, we expect to lift the restrictions on those services.”
He also used the opportunity to once again appeal to persons in those sectors to become vaccinated before the proposed re-opening.
