TWO women including a Guyanese national are charged for illegal vending in Port-of-Spain.
Police reported on Friday that the women, a Guyanese, 43 residing in Laventille and a 55-year-old from Arima were granted $2,000 station bail on Thursday.
The women were arrested and charged on Thursday by PCs Smith and Wolfe, with wilful obstruction, unlawful pitch of a stall, offering for sale and displaying tobacco products and offering for sale other commodities.
Police stated that around 3.30pm, Port-of-Spain City Police officers approached the vendors and enquired about the women’s legitimacy from the Port-of-Spain City Council to vend on the streets. The women reportedly were unable to provide the necessary documentation and were subsequently arrested and the items seized. They are expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate on May 5.
