THE crime spree in Trinidad continues with a Telecom Security Services officer dying after being shot while depositing money at an automated teller machine (ATM) in Cunupia on Thursday.
Reports indicated that Hasley Augustine, 46, of Arima and three other security guards were at an RBC ATM at DS Plaza on Chin Chin Road in Cunupia when five armed men stormed the area. The incident happened around 11.30 am.
Witnesses heard gunshots and the bandits escaped in a Hyundai Ioniq which was found abandoned nearby at Welcome Road.
Augustine was seen lying on the pavement bleeding while one of his colleagues tried to render assistance.
A video showed that people were looking on offering sympathy as they waited for Augustine to get treatment.
The wounded guard was taken to the Cunupia Health Centre where he died while being treated.
This murder follows the killing of two brothers in Carenage on Tuesday night when 97 spent shells were found at the scene and the robbery of the wife or the NIB chairman at her Westmooring home on Wednesday.
