POLICE Commissioner Gary Griffith has said farewell to Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China Song Yumin, who nears the end of his foreign service here in Trinidad and Tobago.
Song Yumin made a courtesy call at the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Police Administration Building, Port of Spain on Thursday.
During the meeting, he praised Griffith for his efforts in combatting crime and making Trinidad and Tobago a safer place for all citizens, especially for Chinese nationals, according to a release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
He also expressed satisfaction with the levels of cooperation exhibited between the TTPS and China in areas of mutual interests, the release stated.
Griffith also expressed his gratitude to Song Yumin, saying that he had done a great deal to assist the TTPS in its transformation by rendering training, guidance, and support.
He said he was appreciative of the friendship which had grown between them to the benefit of the people of this country.
In August 2019, China handed over 200 motorcycles to the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, for use by the TTPS, in the fight against crime, the release noted.
