PEOPLE’S National Movement (PNM) candidate for Lengua\Indian Walk Pastor Autly Granthume wants homework centres for the children in the area.
During a meeting at the Fifth Company Baptist Primary school on Saturday night, he delivered plans for development for his electoral district.
Granthume said many children in the constituency had the ability to perform better academically but lacked moral and financial support.
In his delivery, he told Minister of Education Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly to expect several knocks at her door for the institution of homework centres.
Meanwhile, other plans included better living conditions, more starter homes in the district, stronger infrastructure, more job opportunities and a sporting facilities to engage the youth.
Granthume also highlighted the PNM’s promise to the people of Samuel Cooper Road, who now have running water throughout the village as WASA laid new lines.
He then called on persons to address God firstly and then proceed to the polling station on Monday to vote.
“Be anxious to get to the polling stations, and when you reach, don’t let anyone distract you because your mind is already fixed and finger prepared to place the X by Pastor Autly Granthume.”
He also urged persons after voting through all the excitement, to remain calm.
“But please don’t stop praying because the adversary is still at work but thanks be to God, for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.”
This was Granthume’s second time going up for the Lengua\Indian Walk seat.
His first attempt was in last year’s local government election where he tied with United National Congress (UNC) Nicole Gopaul with 1,428 votes each. That had caused a bye-election scheduled for Monday.
