STAY on course, and your quiet strength will get you through.
These were the words of wisdom shared by Member of Parliament for Chaguanas West Dr Colin Neil Gosine on Tuesday at ASJA Girls College Charleville.
Gosine was invited to deliver a greeting at the College’s graduation ceremony.
Sharing his experiences at school, Gosine said, “I was never the most popular person. I wasn’t the loudest voice in the room or the most well-liked student. In fact, I was a quiet person throughout my school life. And because of that, I was often overlooked. I know what it feels like to work hard, to try your best, and still feel unseen.”
He said, however, while may have felt unrecognised, he continued to focus on his goals and strived to achieve them.
The MP encouraged the graduates to persevere through challenges and reminded them that recognition often comes after long periods of silent dedication.
Gosine shared, “But I urge you—stay the course. Keep showing up for yourself. Keep doing the work, even when no one is clapping. Your consistency, your heart, and your quiet strength will speak for you in time. One day, you will be recognised.”
He commended the young women on their academic achievements and reminded them that their journey through life had just begun.
Gosine further recognised the teachers and parents who helped foster a nurturing and disciplined environment for the students to achieve.
