PRISON officer Mahendra Ramdial stopped on the Solomon Hochoy Highway on Sunday morning to help accident victims.
While rendering assistance he was struck by a van.
The 27-year-old, of Calcutta No 2, was on his way home from work when he stopped just before 6 am to render assistance to an accident on the median of the Solomon Hochoy Highway near to the Freeport tunnel.
Ramdial parked his vehicle on the shoulder of the southbound lane and when he was about to cross the road, a driver of a Mazda BT50 said he hit some debris and lost control of his vehicle hitting Ramdial who flew into the air and landed 200 metres away.
Ramdial was also known as Brandon.
