THE funeral service of George Floyd, the African American man, who died after a policeman put his feet on his neck for more than eight minutes, took place in Houston on Tuesday.
Floyd died in Minnesota but his funeral took place in Houston where he grew up.
Killed in police custody, his death has caused nationwide anti-racist protests.
There are now calls to defund or in some cases to abolish police departments.
The ex-Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin who had pressed his knee on Floyd’s neck had been granted bail in the sum of $1.25 million.
Floyd’s body was interred in a mausoleum in Pearland, Houston.
