PIPARO – THE Piparo mud volcano which last erupted in 1997 is showing signs again and residents are sitting on a ticking time bomb.
That is the opinion of Xavier Moonan, a geo-scientist, who spoke to residents at the Piparo Town Hall over the weekend.
He said it was only a matter of time before the volcano erupts again.
Moonan said the western side of the volcano is leaning and tilting downwards into the vent – it is collapsing on itself.
He said flammable gases were coming out from holes on Panchoo Trace.
Moonan said he could not predict when the volcano may erupt.
