WORKERS in gas stations are amongst the next group of persons to receive vaccines that have been allocated to the Ministry of Energy.
In a press release on Monday, the Energy Ministry stated that Government will allocate a further 5,000 vaccines for application in the energy sector, when the next tranche of vaccines arrive in Trinidad and Tobago.
The decision was made after consultations between Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh and Minister of Energy Stuart Young.
The oil and gas sector is one that has been deemed essential since the start of the pandemic.
The ministry stated, “ It is envisaged that these vaccines will be allocated, inter alia, to service companies that provide direct and support services to the energy sector.”
The Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago will be making arrangements with the ministry.
Additionally, the Government will be allocating 1,500 vaccines to National Petroleum (NP) and Unipet for frontline workers at the many gas stations throughout Trinidad and Tobago, the ministry stated.
